Why Tennessee State Parks are among the best in the U.S.

Do you know why Tennessee State Parks are the best in the U.S.? It could be because of conservation efforts, elimination of park fees and the use of green power whenever possible. These are nice but our citizens are the driving force behind all of the initiatives. People are why Tennessee State Parks are among the best in the U.S.m

Almost every location has a Friends of the Tennessee State Park that help. These  groups raise money and give many hours of volunteer service each year. Friends may clean park sites, help clear trails or participate in reenactments. The volunteers donate time and bear costs because keeping our parks available to is important to them - and to us.

I'm going to be talking about more of our individual Tennessee State Parks in upcoming articles. Some of the  many that I've already personally visited include Norris Dam, Cove Lake, Panther Creek and many other locations. Visiting more is definitely on my list of things to do! Our parks are among my favorite places to visit. Call me biased, but to me it's easy to see why these deserved to be called the best in the U.S.

Would you like to view a complete list of all Tennessee State Parks? This website has all the information you need.

  1. We spent so many wonderful times camping, hiking and having picnics in the Minnesota State Parks. These parks are such great assets in each state - I'll look forward to reading more about the beautiful ones in Tennessee. rcj
