Hurricane Sandy on the Cherohala Skyway

Hubby and I ventured forth in search of snow that was left by Hurricane Sandy. On the Cherohala Skyway, the roads are open so that was our destination. The road trip began with views of gorgeous fall foliage. Our drive into Tellico Plains was amazing.

In the beginning we were surrounded by abundant golds and reds on the road trip. I began to wonder about the reports of Hurricane Sandy dumping snow on the Cherohala were true. It didn't take long for me to stop wondering. We starting seeing snow about half an hour into the trip.

Granted, we're not talking about a road closing blizzard (not right now anyway). But, there was just enough of the white stuff on the Cherohala Skyway to remind us that winter is coming soon. We just had to climb in elevation to find the snow, but find it we did.

It would be nice to have been able to stay longer on the road trip and take more photos. Climbing mountains in a PT Cruiser that needs some car repair work can curtail your fun. However, I was able to snap a few photos before Hubby made me head back into town.

Here are a couple of photos that I took on the Cherohala Skyway. In addition to the photos on this blog, I also have a photo movie. Click the You Tube link on the sidebar. It should take you right to the video.

Despite the car repair issue, I would take the road trip again. Seeing the snow mixed with the fall colors on the trees was a little surreal. Then again, surreal seems to sum up everyone's experience with Hurricane Sandy. This time wasn't at all like our previous Cherohala Skyway road trip.
