All of the state parks in Tennessee have a lot to offer. Pristine streams, cool forest canopies, basketball, fishing... You can't go wrong with a state park. Cove Lake State Park in Caryville, Tennessee is one to put on your visit list. My family goes there to enjoy a picnic, walk around the lakefront trail or camp.
Like the other Tennessee State Parks, Cove Lake has no admission fee. Visiting here is a budget experience with a lot to offer. Camping and boat rental fees are just about the only fees that are involved.
Visitors can play in the grassy fields, walk around the lake, picnic, bring basketballs for the courts, climb on the playgrounds, go bird watching and enjoy everything else at Cove Lake State Park without worrying about the budget.
Camping fees are reasonable and some sites are along the lake or give campers a good view of it. Most of the camp sites are shaded enough to provide a respite from the summer sun. Hook-ups are available.
The campground usually isn't overcrowded unless it is peak season. We were there near the end of May for our last trip. Our camp site had electric hook-ups and was across the driveway from the water. The bugs weren't bad and our neighbors were great. It was a nice visit.
With Cove Lake as a sample, it's easy to see why Tennessee State Parks are the Best in the Nation.
