UNCC Botanical Gardens
These gardens at UNC may be the ideal place to find some peace and quiet - and it's free! Can there be any better place to relax than in a garden? The three separate sections of the complex include the McMillan Greenhouse, Susie Harwood Garden and the Van Landingham. Native and tropical plants are on display. The gardens are open seven days a week from daylight to dark.
Parks and Recreation
Every city is developing green spaces for residents and visitors. The free parks are a Charlotte activity that the whole family can enjoy. Charlotte Museum of History
As you know from other blog articles, I am a huge history buff so this spot really sounds interesting. It's free. Visitors are given a phone number to call that will provide a walking tour narrative of the site. The Hezekiah Alexander house was built in 1774. There is a reproduction log kitchen, barn and spring house. Grounds include historic gardens, statues, a Chilean mill and American Freedom Bell.
