Piney Grove UMC in Athens to host benefit concert

Piney Grove United Methodist Church is giving back to the community by hosting a benefit concert for the Claxton Volunteer Emergency Services (often referred to as the Claxton Fire Department).

CJ Warren
The fundraiser is this Saturday, June 7 at 6pm.  Piney Grove UMC is about two miles from the landfill at 767 County Road 750. Directions are available here.

There is no charge for the concert but a freewill offering will be collected during the singing. Attendees are free to give whatever amount fits their budget. Donations of any amount are welcome.

Several local artists are joining their talent to make the evening a special event.
CJ Warren brings his wide musical background to support the fundraiser. His mix of
gospel standards and contemporary tunes is popular with all ages.

Jason Hitt brings his vocal gift to help the Claxton Volunteer Fire Department.

Amanda Knight is a local high school student with a powerful voice. She sings in churches, at rodeos and next, at the fundraiser for the Claxton Volunteer Emergency Services fire department.

Alexandria Crabtree has performed flute solos at Arlington National Cemetery, The National Cathedral, community events and local rodeos.

Claxton Volunteer Emergency Services has been serving the community since 1992. The congregation of Piney Grove United Methodist Church wants to host the fundraiser as a way of giving back to this great all volunteer organization.

Funds raised will benefit the general operating budget of the fire department. However, there is a specific need that the congregation of Piney Grove UMC hopes the fundraiser will meet.

Claxton Volunteer Emergency Services needs an automated external defibrillator. Commonly called an AED, these devices have been known to save the lives of countless heart attack victims. Having an AED would be an asset to Claxton Volunteer Emergency Services and to the community.
Hopefully, the fundraiser this Saturday, June 7 will make that happen.
