Parking for Boomsday 2012

It's almost that time again. People are asking me where to park for Boomsday 2012. Don't let things take you by surprise. If you have not been to Boomsday in a couple of years, then you may notice some changes. The fireworks will be detonated from the

ADA Parking
Good  news! ADA accessible parking is available on the top deck of the City-County building. Another location is the west end entrance on the UT Campus. Other accessible parking for Boomsday 2012 is at the UT lots of S-23 lot in the west corner of Lake Loudoun and Neyland Drive and in G-10 (Neyland Stadium parking garage).

Costs for these lots will apply and will vary by location. Be sure that your ADA hang tag or license plate is clearly visible and that it isn't expired. The City-County building lot tends to fill quickly at Boomsday 2012. Be sure to arrive extra early for these accessible spots. (Note: Service dogs do not have grass here. The UT lots may be more convenient for the animals.)


Free parking
One of the best things about parking for Boomsday 2012 is the free downtown garages Look no farther than the Market Square Garage & State Street Garage. Free parking and proximity to the fireworks make these two parking garages extremely popular. Expect these to fill early.

$5 Lots
Event parking for Boomsday 2012 is in place at some of the downtown lots. The lots charging $5 are the Dwight Kessel Garage, Locust Street Garage, City County Garage. Also, the Knoxville Civic-Coliseum garage is available for $5. Bring your walking shoes for this one.

$10 Lots
The University of Tennessee is getting into the Boomsday 2012 fireworks spirit. Special event signs lead the way to UT parking lots and garages. These are open for general public parking at a cost of $10. Several of these parking areas have good to limited views of the Boomsday 2012 fireworks experience.

Blount Mansion members can park at the mansion for $10. If you aren't already a member, then it may be a good time to join. It's a good place to avoid the crowds.

Sold Out
The Mabry-Hazen House hosts an annual fundraising event during Boomsday. For $50, visitors get parking, dinner, music and a good view of the fireworks show. Tickets sell quickly and are already unavailable for 2012.
