Haw Ridge Park in Oak Ridge is a popular spot for mountain bikers, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. It's a little different from the other parks in the area. For example, don't expect an air conditioned visitor center or vending machines.
What you can expect is 28 miles of wilderness along the shores of Melton Hill Lake. It was donated by TVA in 1972 for recreational purposes. Haw Ridge Park in Oak Ridge is also known for wildlife such a deer, raccoons and the regular East Tennessee animals.
Annual events include a shoreline cleanup, bike demo and more. A 501c3 called Friends of Haw Ridge Park has been set up to help take care of this treasured resource. Maps and trail info can be found online.
