Hotel safety tips makes your travel safer and more secure

Everyone wants to have all the fun and excitement that a getaway offers. Security is the last thing that we want to think about. It's also the first thing that we should think about. A  few minutes of safety considerations can help us all have the vacation we want. Here are  a few common sense tips to keep in mind.

Hotel safety safety tips #1 - Choosing a hotel
Park in a well lighted area away from shrubs and trees.
Be aware of anything that looks suspicious.
Don't hesitate to call  upon staff to walk you to your car if you feel uncomfortable.
Parking near the office can be safer. It also has the added convenience of being closer for check-out, breakfast or the hotel business center.
Keep an eye on your personal items when loading or unloading your car.
Select a motel with controlled key access to all areas of the building.

Hotel safety tips #2 - Check in
At check in your room  number should never be announced. If this happens, politely but firmly ask for another room and tell the desk clerk why.
Some women prefer to register by using initials.

Hotel safety tips #2 - Room placement
Many women prefer a room close to the front desk.
Interior corridors are generally considered to be the most secure.
Request another room if anything about your room location makes you uncomfortable.

Hotel safety tips #3 - Your room
Don't open the door without checking to see who it is first.
Call the front desk to verify if anyone unexpectedly shows up saying that they are staff.
Keep your door closed and locked.
Don't prop your room door open.
Use the chain or security latch.
Double check windows to be sure they are both closed and locked.

Tip #4 - Your car
Don't leave expensive personal items laying where someone can see them. Purses, cameras and other expensive items should be locked safely away.
Park in view of the desk staff. It's a deterrent for would-be thieves.
Thieves look for dark places. They tend to pass on cars that are parked under lights where they can be seen.
Awareness plays a role in personal safety. Be aware of your surroundings at all times. If something feels wrong, call for help.
