Find out when the colors are peaking with the Fall Foliage hotline

When are the colors peaking? That’s what everyone who is planning fall travel wants to know. The U.S. Forest Service is now taking the guesswork away. They have a fall foliage hotline that tells us when colors are peaking.

The U.S. Forest service Fall Foliage Hotline number is 1.800.354.4595. Call them when you want to know where the autumn colors are at their best.

There is nothing like taking a fall foliage driving tour. Deciding where to go can be a challenge. The Great Smokey Mountains National Park, Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherohala Skyway are all terrific travel destinations. Any of these will display gorgeous color in the fall.

Cumberland Gap fall 2010
A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I decided to take a fall foliage drive to the historic Cumberland Gap (see photo). This national park covers parts of 3 states. The view from Pinnacle Overlook allows you to view for miles. The color was already beginning to show at that time but is nothing like what you can see now.

The U.S. Forest Service hotline can let you know when the colors are peaking here and in other parts of the country. New England and the Rocky Mountains are both known for to provide a stunning fall foliage drive.

If you are traveling from Knoxville or anywhere in East Tennessee there are other popular spots that you can visit. These include North Carolina, the mountains in Georgia, West Virginia and Virginia.

When it comes to fall foliage no place has more choices within a reasonable driving distance than Knoxville. The U.S. Forest Service fall foliage hotline is the perfect tool to help us find the best place to travel.
