Where to find the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds 2011 airshow schedule

When I got word about a previous blog post I immediately began  thinking about the Blue Angels flight demonstration team of the U.S. Navy. These demonstrations are always an incredible display of raw power and aerial acrobatics.

Airshows aren't as common in our area as they used to be and I miss them. For several years, T.C. Thompson Childrens Hospital in Chattangooa, Tennessee organized a Blue Angels airshow as a giant fundraiser.

At the time, the airshow flight path was directly over our house. The backyard show began a few days before the scheduled airshow. The Blue Angels few right overhead. It was a super cool experience!

The Blue Angels show schedule is online for 2011 and 2012. It's exciting to find airshow demonstrations only a few hours from home. One coincides almost exactly with our vacation plans. (I'm going to do my best to cover that so be sure to visit Youve Been Reviewed again in mid-June.)

All Blue Angels Airshows are subject to change without notice. Availability of planes and pilots are subject to military exercises. They can rightfully be pulled at any time according to the needs of the U.S. Navy.

The Blue Angels airshow crowds are friendly and family oriented. Many of the people that I've spoken with at past shows have included current or former military families. I've also had the privilege of speaking with engineers and some behind the scenes techs who were off duty.

The Blue Angels aren't the only military flight team to give demonstrations. The Thunderbirds is the name for the U.S. Air Force flight demonstration team. They also show off with thunderous crowd pleasing aerial dynamics that seemingly defy the laws of gravity.

The Thunderbirds schedule for 2011 - 2012 is online. All military airshows are subject to the same cancellation possibilities regardless of the advertised schedule. This is a rare occurrence. Other aerial acts are typically scheduled as part of the airshow that are not military related. Even if the big planes are called in at the last second there is still plenty to see.

Check out the airshow schedule links above to find a demonstration near you. It's an experience that you will never forget.

  2. Here's a link to the Air Force site on the Thunderbirds 2011 schedule. They don't appear to have anything online yet for 2012.

There is a contact email at the bottom of the page there. Maybe they can help with the dates and any other details that you may need?

If you find out anything please do let me know. I'll be glad to tell other readers by posting it on the blog.
