Boma buffet at the Walt Disney World Animal Kingdom Lodge

Food at Boma is served buffet style. It's not atypical of other restaurants at Walt Disney World. This gives you an opportunity to try a variety of different foods. The down side is that you have to wade through the lines. This can take awhile at Boma so it's important to not be in a hurry.

Dining at Boma in Walt Disney World

It would be almost impossible for someone to walk away without finding something to eat that they liked. Boma didn't have a huge variety of dishes but what they had were nicely done. I was surprised to see the comfort food dishes that were mixed in with the exotic entrees. 

The African style entrees at Boma included a nut crusted salmon. I'm not a fan of fish but this was pretty good. The nuts provided a light crust that worked well with the grilled salmon. Boma had what was called African Steak. It was flavorful but I think some of our steakhouses do just as well.

My favorite Boma was the Durban Chicken. It was flavored with nutmeg, cinnamon and other spices and cooked on a rotisserie. I was thrilled to find the recipe online. It is definitely a dish that we are considering for my daughter's wedding.

Side dishes included African soups and a salad bar. One of my favorite sides was some type of couscous. It had raisins and some other type of fruit. I was surprised at how good it was. And of course, it is Walt Disney World so the desserts are great too. The best thing is that Boma serves tarts. These are about a tablespoon in size. This works perfectly after such a large dinner.

At $36.99 a head Boma isn't a cheap place to eat. Walt Disney World does suggest an 18% gratuity. Purchasing ahead of time with the Disney Dining Plan takes 20% off of the price. We booked our stay on a free dining plan promotion. However, we will probably dine at Boma again even if we have the free dining plan or not.
