Loving; Living with the Land at Epcot in Walt Disney World

Living with the Land Boat Ride is one of my new favorite rides at Walt Disney World. It's in The Land pavilion at Epcot. This is possibly the most unique experience at the parks. If you go to The Land pavilion ato ride Soarin be sure to take a look at Living with the Land while you are there.

If you have never seen a watermelon or a tomato grown on a tree this ride is for you. This isn't an amazing thrill ride in the traditional sense as there aren't sharp curves or steep drops. Instead, Living with the Land at Walt Disney World takes visitors through a garden of tomorrow.

Visitors learn about how hydroponics and soil conversion combine to create new ways to grow plants and aquatic life. Living with the Land explores ways that fish can help keep plant roots healthy which can in turn grow crops with a higher yield. Part of the Walt Disney World project includes raising fresh water shrimp, sturgeon and growing vegetables on trees.

Something else is going on at Living with the Land  that will inspire future space travelers.  Our ability to explore other planets will not be possible without food. The research being done here explores new ways that plants may grown on a space research station. The plants seen at Walt Disney World on Living with the Land could impact future space exploration projects.

I enjoyed the ride so much that I can't wait to go back. Really, who would have thought that a watermelon could grow on a tree? You can take a behind the scenes look at the greenhouse. Walt Disney World calls is the Behind the Seeds tour.

There's an extra charge but it sounds worth it. We didn't get to go because you have to be able to stand or walk for about an hour. The tour is definitely on our list for next time along with the next look at Living with the Land.
