My visit to Mahogany's at the Crowne Plaza in Knoxville

Hubby and I went to dinner at Mahogany's Restaurant in the Crowne Plaza Hotel before our visit to the incredible Tennessee Theatre. We picked up a gift certificate from Restaurant.com and saved it to use as part of a special Christmas date. This was it.

Gift certificate
The $25 gift certificate was only a few bucks.  The Crowne Plaza Hotel strives for excellence and the restaurant does too. After it was redeemed we were asked to fill out a brief survey at Restaurant.com. The promotion provides Mahogany's with feedback from guests.

We've visited Mahogany's for special occasions. Seating is an open floor plan with plenty of space between the tables. Reservations are suggested.

Cost
Our Friday night seafood buffet dinner with two iced teas was $24.99. An 18% tip is automatically added when a Restaurant.com certificate is used. With the coupon, tax and tip we paid $44 at Mahogany's in the Crowne Plaza Hotel. At about $60 the full price compares favorably to other restaurants in Knxoville

Selection
I was impressed with the quality of buffet items. The impressive buffet at Mahogany's includes hot and cold entrees, prime rib and pasta bar, bread, salad, soups and desserts. Cold items included Oysters Rockefeller, peel and eat shrimp, crab legs, sushi, mussels and poached salmon and more.

Hot items at Mahogany's in the Crowne Plaza Hotel also had fried shrimp, vegetables, garlic mashed potatoes and deviled crab. Everything was just what you would expect from the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

The chef at the prime rib and pasta bar carved and cooked to your specifications at Mahogany's. The protein you select is cooked and placed over linguini or penne. When finished with your selected red or white sauce. Standing prime rib is expertly carved. There was also a tip jar so you can recognize his extra service.

Everything was cool and fresh at the Mahogany's salad bar. The mixed greens worked well with the assortment of toppings. Broccoli, pepper strips, sprouts and other items complemented each other. Several different types of dressings were available.

Capping off the meal was a selection of at least five desserts. Cakes included chocolate and carrot. Each looked scrumptious. Mahogany's at the Crowne Plaza Hotel even served ice cream.

Live music
One of the nicest things about dining at Mahogany's is the pianist. The music rang throughout our part of the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Her playing rivaled almost every other pianist that I've heard. She came by each table to take requests and say hello. As per other places that have musicians there is a tip jar at the piano.

Service
Our particular server at Mahogany's was superb. Teamwork was excellent. Plates were removed by any staff member and our iced tea never ran dry. It was also excellent.

Rating
Mahogany's at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Knoxville served Black tea from Tazo and Starbucks coffee. This attention to detail earned my 4 star rating. Urbanspoon shows a 100% approval rating.
