Peace Pole Project

This Peace Pole caught my eye and stirred my curiosity when we were in Manassas, Virginia. The pole seems to be appropriate for an area that was fraught with so much conflict.  Planting a pole is a way for communities to connect with one another and spread the message of piece. They are found in front of municipal buildings, in parks, gardens or even indoors.

Each one of the markers is multi-sided . The words 'May Peace Prevail on Earth' is on each of the side and each is done in a different language.

The poles are increasingly popular and can be placed in just about every setting.

Peace Project.org says that so many poles have been planted globally that they lost count. Globally, the estimate is that roughly 200,000 have been placed so far.

If you know of the location of a pole be sure to let us know. Please leave a message in the comment section below. I would like to be on the lookout for them on my journeys and post the photos here.

From street crimes to war, it's nice to be reminded that most of us simply want to live in harmony with one another. The message behind the Peace Poles is one that all of us can share.
