The Dogwood Arts Festival has a full slate of events lined up. The activities begin on March 29, 2012 and run through the month of April. It is something that everyone in the Knoxville area looks forward to annually. I kno that I do.
The trails and gardens of the Dogwood Arts Festival are always open and always free. There are several of them to choose from. Last year, Hubby and I took an afternoon and drove most of the ones in West Knoxville. The colors were absolutely spectacular. I snapped the pictures that you see here. Since the trails are open all day, it was easy to fit it in after one of his morning meetings.
Downtown, the Chalk Walk makes the streets come alive with artistic talent. I missed it last year but hope to get to go this year. It's on Market Square Mall and Krutch Park on April 21. Artists include professionals but also adults and children.
Then of course, there's the Dogwood Parade. Floats, enormous balloons and bands make this special. It happens on April 27 and goes from Hill Ave. to Gay St. The trick to a viewing spot is to get there early. Showing up at the 7:00 pm start time is not a good idea.
There are lots more events going on with the Dogwood Arts Festival. The embed links give more information. If you live in Knoxville (or are traveling through) you will want to see as much as possible. The festival always has something for everyone. Have fun!
