Sunday afternoon road trips provide a welcome break

It's the weekend and that means that tomorrow is Sunday. It's been a long, exhausting week and I need some down time. Wedding planning has been going crazy, work has been demanding... You know the drill. Now, it's the weekend. You know that means right? It's time for the weekly Sunday drive.

Put the picnic cooler in the car, dash out of the church, cruise down the interstate. You can feel the wind in your hair, put on your favorite CD, it's a welcome stress break. The Sunday drive used to be a staple getaway for families. Nowadays, families are so busy that an afternoon drive is part road trip and part adventure.

Sunday road trips can easily be planned ahead of time with another family. Leaving after worship not only affords a convenient meeting spot but it fills an afternoon. This isn't to say that you have to take friends with you or even plan. It's perfectly okay to leave church, cruise down the road and enjoy your spontaneous afternoon.

Some potential destinations might be:
Parks or lakes
Museums
Riverboat church cruise tours
Scenic Byway

Parks are always among my favorite destinations. Where do you like to go on your Sunday afternoon road trip?
