Cades Cove Loop Road: Hyatt Lane

Go past the Methodist Church on the Cades Cove Loop Road and you come to Hyatt Lane. Hyatt Lane is a shortcut across Cades Cove. The two lane road goes through fields and can be narrow in points. It's not uncommon to see a couple of other vehicles. Be prepared to pull over for them in some spots.

The really nice thing about Hyatt Lane is that it's a two lane road. If you have gone through the Cades Cove Loop Road once and want to see part of it again, then this is the way to do it.

Why would you want to drive part of the loop twice?

Animals that you see are often different in the morning than in the evening hours. If you're a photography buff, then you may want to capture the cove in the morning light. You may spot some deer  or wild turkeys in the daytime but animals generally become more active in the evening.

Almost any evening spot on the Cades Cove Loop Road can yield additional photo opportunities. The way the sun in angled on the mountains will be different and your photos will reflect that.

Lots of people travel around the Cades Cove Loop Road only once. There's nothing wrong with that. It's also okay to peek around the next corner and see what Hyatt Lane looks like. There's really no way to go wrong when visiting this part of the Smoky Mountains.
