Beaufort, South Carolina is calling – it’s Shrimp Festival Time!

Shrimp – oh glorious shrimp!  Fresh shrimp from the waters of the Low Country of South Carolina are calling your name. For any seafood lover just hearing the word ‘shrimp‘should put a smile on your face – I know it does that to me!
Fresh caught and steamed SC Shrimp

The shrimp are calling – they are calling you to Beaufort, SC for the Annual Shrimp Festival 2015.  That’s right; this tasty bite of sea life has its own festival.

This year it is being held on Saturday and Sunday, October 2nd and October 3rd.  The festivities take place at Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park in downtown Beaufort.  You can’t miss it, just follow the crowd.

While the shrimp are the stars of the day there is much more going on in and around the Low Country as part of this festival.

There is an Art and Crafts market where you can get a jump start on your holiday shopping.  After standing on your feet shopping plop yourself down in a carriage and let a horse do the work while you tour the town.  Maybe a boat ride is more your style…or just go have a really delicious lunch at one of the many restaurants along the water.

There will be various races for all ages but if you prefer to chill out and do nothing but watch that’s fine too.  There will be entertainment to keep your toes tapping and hands slapping.

Beaufort, South Carolina is an antebellum town dripping with Spanish Moss and Southern Charm.  If you have never experienced either, now is the time.  If you hurry you can make reservations at various hotels, motels or B&B’s.

If you live fairly close, you can make it a day trip.  If worse comes to worse you can always find a motel a little further out. If you can’t make it, visit Beaufort any time of the year there is always good food and beautiful scenery.

You can stay in town and be close to the noise and action, or get a rental out on Lady’s Island or Saint Helena Island and relax away from the action.  Once you’ve had your fill of all things shrimp you can take a ride out the Hunting Island State Park and check out the lighthouse or do some fishing off the pier.

Can you smell the chocolate?

When you feel the need for chocolate, just head over to the Chocolate Tree for some goodies.  Just follow your nose; the chocolate aroma will reach your nose before the sign reaches your eyes.

The 21st Annual Shrimp Festival in Beaufort, South Carolina awaits you….all you have to do is show up!
