If you are in or near Knoxville, Tennessee you may be interested in free Christmas events for kids. There are always a ton of great opportunities. Only a few are in this blog article. November and December is a two month long celebration of events. It includes the Regal Celebration of Lights, Comcast Christmas in the Park and lots of other activities. These are free and great for families with children.
West Town Mall

The melodies of Christmas music float through the air at West Town Mall. This free event includes old favorites and classical pieces that children and adults will enjoy.
December 2, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.
Downtown
This year the parade features Rodney Atkins. It is an event delights young and old alike. Santa Claus sneaks away from the North Pole to join in the fun. Marching bands from area high schools and floats from organizations and nonprofits add a special touch of fun. Visitors begin lining up early along the parade route.
Tennessee Theater
December 5 at 12:00 pm and 2:30 pm.
This program is presented on the first Monday of each month. A bag lunch is $5 and supplies are limited. A refreshment stand will be open. There is no admission charge but visitors will need a ticket. (See link above.) Featured this month is the chorus of Central High School and selections will be performed on the mighty Wurlitzer organ.
Knoxville Civic Auditorium
December 11 at 3:00 p.m.
December 12 and 13 at 7:00 p.m.
Every year this professionally directed event brings the birth of the Christ child to life. Choir members and volunteers from churches around the Knoxville area take part. Attendees should arrive early for the best seats.
Church Street United Methodist Church
December 18 from 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Visitors can see what the City of Bethlehem may have looked like when Jesus was born. It begins with a short service by a local Rabbi. The walk continues through a street area and 'market'. You will be ushered past an inn where there is no room and walk past a stable. Outside, there will be animals of the the type that would have been found during the set time period.
