| Travel bear goes to Magic Kingdom |
As tourists we enjoyed the rides and the shows but paid little attention to all of the behind the scenes stuff that makes it happen. I never appreciated the work that goes into making the Magic Kingdom magical. Then there are the extra touches that made me laugh. (Can we all say 'hidden Mickeys')
Here are a few facts about Magic Kingdom that might impress you too.
Hidden Mickeys
These are found throughout the Magic Kingdom - if you know where to look. Fortunately the website HiddenMickeys.org can help. The concept began as an inside joke among the Imagineers. It is said that when Walt Disney found out about it that he decided that the hidden Mickeys should stay. Now, one of the favorite past times of some guests is to locate as many of them as they can.
Cinderella's Castle
This is one of the facts about Magic Kingdom that surprised me. Bricks were not used during the construction of Cinderella's Castle. The framing was made of six hundred tons of steel.
Alcohol is not available in the Magic Kingdom.
Tomorrowland

In 2004, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority was voted the #1 underrated attraction at Walt Disney World.
Cars on the ride are pulled by electromagnets.
Green
Did you know that the WDW theme parks are the most green in the country? One of the facts about Magic Kingdom (and other Disney properties) is that green energy is used as much as possible. There is an extensive recycling program and teams are constantly looking for more ways to help the environment.
These are just a few of the facts about Magic Kingdom that we unearthed. I'm looking forward to finding out more of them on our next WDW vacation.
