Happy Thanksgiving; slow down and enjoy it

Wishing each of my blog readers a Happy Thanksgiving. Whether you are on a road trip, staying at Grandma's or a hotel, I hope that your Thanksgiving travel is stress free. Reality is that things don't always go smoothly. Here are a few of the things I do that help alleviate problems.

Make hotel reservations
Save yourself the frustration of going from hotel to hotel in search of a room. Make your reservations before you leave home.

Watch the road
Holiday traffic can be rough. Drivers who are in a hurry, filled with singing (or cranky) kids and having conversations are drivers who aren't paying attention. Watch the road and be aware. Leaving extra following distance doesn't hurt.

Take your time.
Slow down. I'm not just talking when you're driving but also when you're having dinner, enjoying friends and making conversation. Whether you took a vacation and stayed in a hotel or met with family, Thanksgiving Day happens once a year. Enjoy it.
