The Olive Garden has a great special going on right now. This is a limited time offer and is only available at the Olive Garden until November 18, 2012. For only $12.95 the Dinner Today, Dinner Tomorrow provides you with two meals. I thought the Dinner Today, Dinner Tomorrow is too good of a deal not to try. It breaks down to about $6.50 per meal and made fixing lunch at work a breeze.
All of the dine in entrees on the Dinner Today, Dinner Tomorrow promo include the breadsticks and salad or soup that made the Olive Garden famous. The takeout entree comes without the side items but our server offered us a bag for the leftover breadsticks. Also, the Olive Garden didn't skimp on the Dinner Today, Dinner Tomorrow portions which makes the offer an even better deal.
Choices include the old favorites of Five Cheese Ziti al Forno, Fettuccine Alfredo. The Dinner Today, Dinner Tomorrow promo also includes the three new dishes of Mezzaluna Ravioli with five cheese marinara, Spaghetti with four cheese meat sauce and the Lasagna Rollatini with meat sauce.
My choices were the Mezzaluna Ravioli and the Lasagna Roltatini. The Mezzaluna Ravioli comes with several half-moon shaped cheese ravioli. Over the top of it they add marinara and a fresh tomato garnish. Not being a fan of marinara, I asked the Olive Garden staff to replace it with meat sauce. The kitchen still added the fresh tomatoes.
Our server covered the entree with fresh Parmesan cheese at the table. The result was a scrumptious mix of flavors that worked well together. It isn't very different from the usual Ravioli and is a dish that I would order again.
What makes the Dinner Today, Dinner Tomorrow really nice is not having to think about lunch the next day. I took the Lasagna Rollatini and tossed it in the microwave for a few minutes. To make life simpler, the Olive Garden put the reheating directions on the package.
The Lasagna Rollatini is a type of rolled up lasagna. The entree is covered in meat sauce, garnished with parsley and has a large dollop of mozzarella on top. Warming a dish is never tastes the same as it does in the restaurant. I don't know how it compares to the dine-in version but I do feel that the Dinner Tomorrow entree was very tasty and had a good mix of spices.
Now, if I only had a glass of their Bellini Peach Tea, the take home meal would have been perfect.
