Fourth of July fireworks in the greater Knoxville area

There is an impressive list of places to watch the Fourth of July fireworks in the Knoxville area. Many people will want to stay local. I will probably be in either Athens or Etowah as both of the cities have fun celebrations. Trying to catch all of one and part of the other isn't out of the question. I'll add write-ups about those in a day or two.

Fireworks

Here are a few places where you can watch Fourth of July fireworks around Knoxville.

World's Fair Park
Knoxville - The Festival of the 4th begins at 4:00 pm. The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra begins a two hour performance at 8:30 pm. Fireworks are set to begin at about 9:30 pm. It's sponsored by OneMain Financial.

Gatlinburg
It's called the first Independence Day Parade in the nation and it begins at 12 am. The celebration is now in its 38th year and this year, honors women veterans.

LaFollette
The fireworks show is set for dusk at Roane State Community College. My family and I used to watch them from the Food City parking lot. It was always a good show.

Lake City
The show begins at 10:00 pm. Petting zoo and other activites begin at 4:00 pm. Check out the full line-up on the Lake City, Tennessee Facebook page.

Oak Ridge
A.K. Bissell Park 10:00 pm.
This video was shot from the band area in 2010. The sky lit up about an hour after the Oak Ridge Community Band performed. The crowds were mild and traffic wasn't heavily congested. As you can see, the fireworks show was nice. Here's the link for the City of Oak Ridge.
