Tre and Bryson Johnson Benefit Singing: Sweetwater, Tennessee

The Tre and Bryson Johnson Benefit Singing is tonight in Sweetwater, Tennessee. These two little boys are stricken with the IPEX Syndrome. Many children who have this syndrome never make it it past toddlerhood. The parents of Tre and Bryson are committed to helping their children beat the odds. The best chance that these guys have is to have a bone marrow transplant.

To do so, they have to travel from their home in Tennessee in Cincinnatti, Ohio. They will have to stay there for six months after each child receives a transplant. Travel and living expenses are part of the uphill battle that this family faces.

The singing is at:

There will be great gospel music and a silent auction. It takes place outdoors under the tent. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. The weather promises to be clear.

As usual, if asking you to support a cause, it is because I have a personal reason. Friends have put the fundraiser together. It's sure to be a good one. Although I do not know the boys or the family, I know the difficulties of traveling out of state for medical treatment.

We had to make several trips to UNC from Tennessee so that my daughter could be treated for a seizure disorder. The trip completely changed her life but it was expensive. Medical insurance covered the cost of her room and most of her hospital stay.

Gas, groceries and a place to stay for the rest of the family was pricey. Even the Ronald McDonald House has limited bed space and was unavailable.

You can still help even if you can't make it to the singing. A fund has been set up for the family at Citizens National Bank in Sweetwater, Tennessee.
