Sparks Lane in Cades Cove

When you arrive at the Cades Cove Loop Road, the first thing that you should do is pick up a brochure. This tells you some detail about each major point of interest along the road (and some of the smaller ones). Sparks Lane is a two-way road that is about a mile into the loop.

Visitors will occasionally take this without realizing that it comes out on the other side of the loop. The fields are beautiful but if you take Sparks Lane from the beginning, you'll miss much of the excitement of Cades Cove. It's a shortcut through the cove and exits near the end of the road just after the Carter Shields Cabin.

However; for those who have seen the cove and want to do it twice in the same trip, Sparks Lane is the way to go.

If you pick it up at the end of the Cades Cove Loop Road, you can begin the route again. Sparks Lane comes out just before you get to the John Oliver Cabin near the beginning point of the journey.
