Since we decided to stop driving 8 hours each way to
Beaufort, SC, I had to come up with a new vacation spot, preferably with no
more than a 4-hour-drive. We still love
going to Pigeon Forge, TN, but I wanted something new – a new place and a few
new restaurants for my birthday!

After searching in Asheville, North Carolina and
surrounding areas for the perfect pet friendly rental and fantastic restaurants
nearby, I came up with the Waynesville/Maggie Valley, North Carolina area. I found several mouth watering restaurants in
Waynesville and Maggie Valley so it was a toss-up which ones we would try
during our time there.
I was lucky that out of the hundreds of rentals I got
reservations as a very cute place on a creek in Maggie Valley. I can’t tell you
all the details of the places we ate and the scenery we saw in this one
article. This article will deal with one
of the restaurants I chose and in upcoming articles I’ll share more of this
area with you.
For now I will tell you about a steakhouse in Waynesville, NC, just a few miles from Maggie Valley. It is the Sagebrush Steakhouse. The Sagebrush is a chain with locations in North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

Salad and rolls, Sagebrush Steakhouse, Waynesville, NC |
It isn’t a fancy place by any means so be sure to dress
casual! The hostess and servers were
friendly. We both ordered the 12 oz.
Texas Sirloin since we were starving! We
both had a tossed salad with French dressing.
The greens were fresh and the dressing was very good. I had a baked potato while my husband had the
cowboy potatoes (fried potatoes topped with cheese, bacon and scallions) which
he said was excellent. The hot rolls were light and tender!
We ordered our steaks medium-well – his was underdone and
mine was overdone. Most of it was tender
but there were some tough sections! We
brought two good chunks back for the dog and she had no complaints.
The sweet tea I ordered with lots of lemon was actually
good for restaurant tea. My issue, other
than the steak not being cooked properly, was that no one removed the dirty
dishes from our table until we were ready to pay the check. I find that annoying and something that might
require a little more ‘employee training’.
We were so busy eating and talking about the day that I
forgot to take more than the one photo of my husband’s salad.
If you find
yourself in Waynesville, NC and think the Sagebrush Steakhouse is for you,
check out the menu and their location in this link.
