It's hard to believe that it's that time already. Greekfest in Knoxville, Tennessee is upon us. The fun happens this Friday, Saturday and Sunday on September 18-20.
Despite the economic worries and record gas prices of 2008, Greekfest still drew crowds. (Read more about the 2008 event here.) t's a spectacular mix of culture and tradition that brings people in from all over the United States.
Visitors to Greekfest in Knoxville need to know that there is no parking on site. Leave your car at either the Laurel Church of Christ or the Western Plaza Shopping Center and take the free shuttle. You'll be dropped off right in front of the church. What could be more convenient?
At the festival there is a spectacular blend of music and dancing. The authentic Greek folk dances are performed by the youth of St. George Greek Orthodox Church. They spend many long hours learning the intricate movements. Expect to be impressed.
There are also cooking demonstrations, Greek Food and an unequaled shopping experience. Merchandise from Greece will be available. There is fine jewelry in both gold and silver, fine linens, shawls and clothing.
The highlight of Greekfest is the tour of the beautiful St. George Greek Orthodox Church. This is an experience that is not to be missed. Tours are guided and free.
