Savelli's

Savelli's Restaurant in Knoxville is one of my favorite Italian restaurants. Who doesn't love authentic Italian cooking? Choose from classic choices such as spaghetti, chicken Parmesan, eggplant Parmesan and more upscale choices.
It is situated in an unlikely spot on Sutherland Ave. You can easily miss it as you drive by. It's a small building with a few tables out front. The entire dining area is about the size of a 2 car garage. Tables are a little cramped due to the space. But the food is worth it.

There are posted hours. However, this is a family owned business. If  you are coming within an hour of closing I'd recommend phoning ahead. If business is slow they will close down early to cut expenses. (With this economy who can blame them?)

Savelli's Italian Restaurant does not sell alcohol. Diners are welcome to bring their own bottle of wine. For a small fee they will uncork it and provide glasses.

At times, the service can be a little slow. This is generally when they are backed up in the kitchen. The owner herself does the cooking. This helps to ensure the quality. Most of the time you will be waited on by one of the owner's daughters. They hire a few others but the staff is small. It's nice to see so much personal involvement these days. I feel the occasional slow service is a small price to pay for authentic Italian food cooked and served in a small business restaurant.
