Why I like my Virgin Mobile Prepaid Internet MiFi

The Virgin Mobile MiFi 2200 unit itself is about the same size as a deck of playing cards. It come with a battery and charger, quick start guide and a cloth cover. It is so lightweight that you can forget you've got it and can be easily get lost in the bottom of a purse or backpack.

Software compatibility shouldn't be an issue. The Virgin Mobile MiFi 2200 is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7. Battery life is good. It advertises that the MiFi 2200 has a 40 hour standby time and 4 hour use time. That pretty well matches up with my observations of the product in use. d

Coverage is excellent. Virgin Mobile uses Sprint towers. This makes the coverage unbeatable. I've used my MiFi unit in 2 medium sized cities, in the country and in the edge of the mountains. So far, so good.

There are 3 things that I don't like about the Virgin Mobile MiFi. One is that when you plug it in the unit automatically turns on and stays on. Trying to turn it off does no good. Another thing is that there is no indicator light that tells you when the unit is fully charged. That's pretty much a guessing game as far as I can tell.

As for the third thing, I really wish that Virgin Mobile had come out with this sooner!

  1. I have 10 Virgin Mobile devices that we use for our business (I'm the IT Manager here). We have 5 USB MC760's AND 5 Mifi 2200's. The USBs are used for the desktops that stay in the business day and night while the Mifs's are the ones for the laptops in AND out of the office. Great service!
