The WIVK/Fowler's Christmas Parade in Knoxville

The bands and floats line up at the Knoxville Coliseum for a trek down Historic Preservation and along Gay St. before turning onto Jackson Ave. to head through the Old City. The free Christmas parade is one of many free Christmas events in Knoxville always pleases the crowd.

Kids and adults alike will enjoy seeing the high school marching bands and floats. Be sure to wave as Santa goes by. He’s left the North Pole for a special visit to Knoxville. The night is full of Christmas magical fun.

Visitors will want to dress warmly. This free Christmas parade in Knoxville can be cold. In addition to a coat some people will want to wrap up in a blanket. Hand warmers may be in order if there’s snow or if it’s cold enough to do so.  

If last year is any indication there will be vendors along different points of the parade route. They seemed mostly to have glow-type necklaces and light up toys. There didn’t seem to be much in the way of hot chocolate. You may want to bring your own.

One thing that you will want to bring is plenty of camera batteries. There are plenty of photo moments that you’ll want to record.

Parking is free after 6:00 pm and all day on weekends. Go early to get the best spot to watch the parade. Parking spaces can fill up quickly.
