My experience at the Sizzlin Steakhouse in Athens, TN

Hubby and I went over to the Sizzlin Steakhouse today. It's by I-75 in Athens, TN. They have steaks, burgers and just about everything that you would expect a steakhouse to have.

He ordered the chop steak. It came out with a pile of sauteed onions and green peppers. Looking at it gave me indigestion but he said it was 'quite good'. Go figure.

I had the buffet. They had fried chicken, pork chops, barbeque and some other meat that looked like liver. Other items on the buffet included corn, fried okra, mashed potatoes, turnip greens and pinto beans. It was your typical buffet standard where the food quality was concerned.

That's just on the hot part of the buffet. There is also a multi-item salad bar and a couple of soups. If you can't find anything there maybe the fruit and cheese bar will will be more to your liking. Failing that, the potato bar is a good alternative. Did I mention the dessert bar? Well, you get the message.

I got the baked potato and headed over to the bar. The chili, cheese and sour cream made for an unbeatable combination. Veggies were fresh.

What stood out during this dining experience was the service. Our tea glasses never emptied. The servers were friendly. New plates were delivered without prompting. Even better, our plates were cleared promptly. (My experience a pricier restaurant down the street from the Sizzlin wasn't this good.)

The bill for three with drinks was under $30 for lunch. That's with tax and tip included. That's not too shabby for a steakhouse lunch.
