Don't ski? No problem. Ober Gatlinburg offers beginning ski classes to get you started. You don't have to own your own skis. Equipment can be rented on-site on a first come, first served basis. A fee and a deposit is required for snowboarding equipment.
All skiers must adhere to the National Ski Areas Association endorsed Skiers Responsibility Code. We agreed to adhere to it when I last hit the slopes. Most of it is common sense. Follow directions on all posted signs, stay in control, don't block traffic or run over anyone else... that sort of thing.
Read the code on before heading to Tennessee to the slopes. Following the rules skiing fun and safe for everyone. If you can't follow it, then stay home.
Ober Gatlinburg is a year-round attraction. Some activities (such as all things snow related) are offered seasonally. A few of the other activities include:

The resort has several places where you can warm up in the winter or cool off during the summer. Dress for the weather no matter what season you visit. Dressing in layers, sunglasses and even sunscreen may be needed year round.

Living 2 hours away I have never been to Gatlinburg or the Smokies when it snowed. I'd really love to just once.

ReplyDeleteSorry. I removed a comment because of a typo. The major road into Gatlinburg usually cleared pretty quickly.
ReplyDeleteThe secondary roads aren't long behind. The roads out of Gatlinburg leading to the mountains usually close in winter. Other than that, it's usually pretty clear.
When you go someday, be sure to post the photos. I'm sure they'll be stunning.
