Family friendly New Years Eve celebration rings in 2015

Knoxville is having a family friendly New Years Eve service at Market Square Mall on Dec. 31. The event begins at 11:00 pm. There won't be any food vendors, but the restaurants will be open. The New Year's Eve party is a good way to ring in 2015 and a good way to support the local restaurants in the Market Square Mall area.

The event is priced right. There isn't any charge to attend the celebration. Attendees can also take advantage of free parking at the city-owned garages and parking lots. (Private lots do have a fee and I've always found them to be clearly labeled.) Parking and other details is available at the City of Knoxville website.

The family friendly New Years Eve celebration is going to have plenty of fun. Piped-in party music begins at 11:00 pm. A giant screen will be showing highlights of 2014. Then, a second-by-second countown and ball drop begins. There will be fireworks and a rousing rendition of "Auld Lang Syne."

The New Year's Eve celebration on Market Square Mall is sponsored by 93.1 WNOX. And, if this doesn't sound like enough fun, there's more. Knoxville's Holidays on Ice is open until midnight. Ice skating is $10 for adults, $7 for youngsters age 12 and under.
