Knoxville greenways, trails and parks

Spring is a good time to enjoy Knoxville greenways and trails. You don't have to run or jog to enjoy the trails. Sitting on a Knoxville greenway can be a good way to enjoy nature or people watch. For the adventurous among us, Knoxville has more than 38 miles of paved greenways.

Tomlin at Victor Ashe Dog Park
Greenways in Knoxville provide scenic and recreation opportunities that range from bicycling to reading a book under a shade tree. A greenways and trails plan was introduced in the mid-1980s  to create open space and recreation areas in communities across Tennessee. Development of such spaces would also protect and preserve nature.

Knoxville embraced the trails and greenways idea. A network of green spaces connects some areas of the city. There is something for adults, children and even Fido!

Fountain City
This park has a short, .3 length paved trail. Tykes can run and play on the playground until dark - or until Mom and Dad says it's time to go. It's adjacent to the Fountain City Park which is maintained by the Lion's Club.

 Neyland Greenway
A familiar Knoxville greenways becomes a sea of Orange during every hometown football game. The riverfront pedestrian corridor that includes Volunteer Landing. It goes from the bridge at First Creek to beyond the Neyland Stadium. There is a Riverdale, seasonal concessions and Bluewater access.

Victor Ashe Park
In park in north Knoxville has a paved walking trail and a shaded dog park. This is a great place to get some fresh air and exercise for the whole family and our four footed family members. There is a covered pavilion, seasonal concessions, a playground and large parking lot.
