Getting the Most out of After Christmas Sales

My daughter and I were up early this morning, getting the most out of after Christmas sales. We used some of the techniques that came in handy for Thanksgiving shopping. Wal-mart opened at 6:00 am. That was early for us so we got there by 6:45. People were already lining up to get their share of the bargains too. The markdown for Christmas sales ranged from 50% to 75%. That's quite a savings!

To get the most out of after Christmas sales we looked for items that could be used throughout the year. Solid colors work best. The huge red plastic bowls that now cost .50 will be perfect for summer picnics. Ditto with the packs of green napkins that were also .50. These items will also be good for Valentine's Day and for a St. Patrick party.

Friends birthdays are coming up in the next 3 months. Those large bath baskets are a great deal at 50% off.  So will some of those small gift items.

Of course, it's also a great time to stock up on Christmas supplies and gifts. Buy what you need at keep everything in a large box in the closet until next year. Now only will you be getting the most out of after Christmas sales but your friends will be impressed. Next Christmas you'll be able to relax while your friends are out buying gifts and Christmas wrap.
